I Am Whatever You Say I Am

Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

If your mission in life is not already to
preserve the English tongue, it should be.
Congratulations and thank you!

How grammatically sound are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

This is so not true, but I'll take it. Now where's my crown and fiery halo? They were here just a minute ago and I think they might come in handy when I have to go to school and try to convince my professors not to flunk me. ;-) [link via a mi parecer]

UPDATE: It looks like Windoze users should not take this quiz —it might be loading crapware onto your computer! See the comments for more info.

Uh, yeah, me too! But did you notice that #7 is "faced" instead of the proper "face"?

Me three. Too bad our students never really recognize(d) that. :)

And I had issues with the test, too. Is that the ultimate sign of the Grammar God? Critiquing the test's grammar?

In addition to questionable grammar in the test itself, it contains some browser hijacker software if you're a Windows user, are using some versions of IE, and apparently do not get to grammar god status.

I don't use Win, but a friend of mine sent the quiz link and reported virus warnings that he'd seen to me.

A little digging found that my friend wasn't the only one who saw this:

My friend reported that it took 3 tries for him to get all of the pieces off his machine. It appears to be some sort of spyware called 'TV Media', which is a variant of jeired:

One more thing: from what I can tell, it seems to be installed via a Visual Basic script somewhere on the quiz page, so I think pop-up blocking might not catch it. Good virus software should catch it in action, I think. I am by no means a Win/VB expert so this is just a guess.

Once again I rejoice in my Mac.

Thanks T for the warnings about the virus software. Aren't Macs great? I know it's only a matter of time before a huge icky virus really hits Macs hard, but until then, it sure is great to use a mac!

Famous P and Raquel: You guys aren't Grammar Gods, you're Grammar God Geeks! And that's only one more reason to love you!
