Tough Enough
I almost cried in court yesterday. I was watching a sentencing hearing. I knew nothing about the defendant, the victim, or the families on either side, but I felt incredible sympathy all of them. I'm obviously not tough enough for this job.

Perhaps you're human enough for it. Give it time.

I've been actively discouraged from entering the criminal law field by legal pros in my wife's family, mostly because at the end, no one is happy. That kind of sounds like what you experienced. Of course, I haven't let those know it alls affect me too much. It's one of the main areas I'm aiming towards.
