The Killers Are Killer
Before leaving for vacation a few weeks ago I loaded up the iPod w/some new music, including "Hot Fuss" by The Killers. After listening to the album round and round for a dozen times or more, I just wanted to say: They really do rock.
Thanks to Cinnamon and everyone else for the recommendations.
That is all.

Aw, shucks! I'm glad you're enjoying the record!
I'm digging the band, Paris Texas right now. They have this sweet old 80's RAWK sound. And, of course, they are infinitely cool for naming their band after the brilliant film with the kickass Ry Cooder soundtrack.

I've listened to The Killers record a few more times this week and I'm digging it quite a bit. I've also seen their video on MTV at the gym a few times in the last week or so. Of course, if you're diggin' that 80's sound, The Faint's new record should be out in a month or so.

The Faint? Paris Texas? How do you cool kids stay on top of all this? You'd think the nation's capital would have a decent radio station, but after a year I still haven't found one that seems to play The Killers or Modest Mouse or even Wilco or The Shins or The Yeah Yeah Yeahs or any of these sorts of smaller yet still pretty mainstream bands. Radio just isn't what it used to be. So what's your secret?

Lincoln has one of the best college radio stations in the country, KRNU. It's kind of a CMJ bellweather station. Plus, I have a few friends and acquaintances in moderately to very successful indie rock bands or who are in the business in some other way. Streaming radio is another way to keep up. That's mostly what I listen to at work during the day as I research, brief and interrogate.

Well, here in La La, we have KCRW (which you can listen to online at KCRW.com) and Indie 103.1 which you can listen to at Indie1031.fm.
Additionally, my friend Shiv just helped relaunch WOXY.com online and is the music director over there. Shiv has been my music guru for years.
