Fun and Games

At the right you'll find a new countdown to Inauguration Day 2009. See, on the bright side it's only 4 years, 11 weeks, 1 days, 2 hours, 42 minutes, 29 seconds until George Bush is no longer president! And here's a great game: Ponder all the possibilities!
  1. What is the worst thing that's going to happen in the next four years because of Bush's election?
  2. What is going to be the worst long-term consequence of nearly a decade under Bush?

Answer to both 1 & 2 - Supreme Court justices retiring and Bush appointing new ones. I hope the Democrats know the beautiful art of the filibuster. They have to know something, since they sure as hell haven't mastered the art of putting together a coherent message for America and campaign strategy.

They're going to undo the 20th century. on the bright side, we can rebuild it right.

Just 4 years, 11 weeks, 1 days, 1 hours, now. See. That hour wasn't so bad! Repeat as necessary.

1) He will get to appoint two or more Sup. Ct. justices.
2) See above.

Answers to both #1 & #2: Court packing.

Scalia yesterday asked what was "sacrosanct" about stereotyping! Hmmm...Hogan, anyone? U.S. v. Virginia? Just what the court needs, 4 more Scalias.

Chief Justice Antonin Scalia.
Or worse: Chief Justice Clarence Thomas.

*shudder*

I dunno. I think the radicalization of a generation of middle eastern kids isn't gonna be so hot for us either.

1) Rising inflation, rising national debt, rising unemployment, and lots and lots of war.
2) Extreme hatred of the US for entirely new reasons that we don't even know about yet.

I think I'm moving to Canada. Or Jamaica. Definitely Jamaica.

The worst results of 1 and 2 are going to be a loss of optimism and idealism in the youth of tomorrow. The worst thing that can happen for any cause is a loss of hope.

' I think the radicalization of a generation of middle eastern kids isn't gonna be so hot for us either.'

How bout a radicalization of a generation fo midwestern kids?

Yeah, good point actus. I think one of the worst long-term consequences of Bush is that he's teaching a generation of Americans that it's ok to ignore facts, to ignore science, to live in a fantasy world of hubris and self-righteousness, to belittle and ignore anyone who doesn't agree with you, etc. So imagine millions of young Bush followers; you tell them global warming and environmental degradation are big problems threatening all of us, they laugh at you and tell you they know better than the scientists who have spent their lives studying this problem. That's very dangerous. Very.
