Capital Weather

It's snowing now in DC, with 4-6 inches likely. Schools are closing all over the place, but not GW. ;-( If you're a DC metro dweller and you enjoy accurate weather forecasts, there's absolutely no better resource than CapitalWeather.com. If/when I leave the DC area, I will miss getting candid and accurate weather updates like this. Their “staff” photographer posts incredible pictures of the region, as well.

This is totally unrelated to this topic. But that trailer for "A Scanner Darkly" is freakin' AWESOME! I think you can depend on Linklater to do a good job adopting P.K. Dick to the big screen, though "Blade Runner," which was based on his novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?," is arguably the best adaptation. Certainly, Linklater can do MUCH better than the adaptation of "Constantine" out now with Keenu stinking it up, that's fer sure. You want to see a stylish movie (Linklater is using the same techniques/aesthetics on "A Scanner Darkly" as he did in "Waking Life," developed and done on a Mac by the way) check out Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi) AND Frank Miller's (co-director) adaptation of Miller's classic "Sin City" graphic novels. I won't post the link for the trailer as that never seems to work out for me. But you can find it easy enough on Yahoo movies. It looks like the film will be fairly close to Miller's seriously noir-ish (both in its stark black and white rendering and equally stark take on humanity) masterpiece. That movie really excites me as Mickey Rourke is playing the lead, Marv. Oh man! And the long awaited "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" movie will be out sometime this coming month, though I suppose that will probably be a botch job...Anyway, I'll quit geekin' out now.
