Effects ripple outward

Following up on my comments from the other day, Evan Schaeffer has offered a more complete explanation of the changes he's making to his blog in the comments here. One of the things he's changing is he's getting rid of what was my favorite part of the his site—the weekly law student blog roundup. Someone needs to take that over. It was not just a great weekend read, it was a public service. Who's in?

I agree... it was very good service. I found a lot of new student blogs that way.

I think it'd be a great feature on Blawg Wisdom... :)

I'd certainly contribute.

Gee, what an excellent idea! I've been meaning to try to recruit some help in updating Blawg Wisdom and making it a more useful and active site. This would be a great way to get that started.

Maybe we should try it out next weekend?

Those who enjoyed Evan's Law School Roundup every Sunday, might plan to check out Blawg Review each Monday, which includes a great sampling of some of the best law student posts of the previous week. This coming Monday, Blawg Review #7 is being hosted by a law student, in fact, at Jeremy Richey's Blawg.

Hopefully, we will see more law student bloggers contributing to Blawg Review every week, which might have some advantages over the Weekly Law School Roundup in that bloggers are able to submit their own posts for review rather than depend on the perspective of the same site to present such a roundup every week.

While I think the Editor 'n' Chef has a great point--Blawg Review should feature student posts as well. However, I think the Law School Roundup was different, because it was 1) exclusively student and 2) didn't limit itself to posts about law... just posts by law students.

I, for one, would like to see the Roundup continued, in that vein.

There's two solutions, if you ask me: have the feature on Blawg Wisdom (I would actually volunteer to do the feature weekly, if other people would contribute posts). The other would be to have Blawg Review have a weekly section that was exclusive to student posts... Dunno how they feel about that.

Either way, let me know. I'll contribute whatever I can.

About a dozen of the Future Hosts already scheduled for Blawg Review are law student blawgs, including Dave! and ai, both of whom we hope will submit a post of their own or recommend any other law student post for inclusion on Blawg Review #7 this week which is now being put together by a law student for Jeremy Richey's Blawg.

We also enjoyed Evan's "Law School Roundup" on Legal Underground, too, but think that the feature's appeal was due in large part to the creativity of the same host, week in and week out. It might be more work than anyone might imagine to follow that that act, but we'd certainly be glad if anyone did it as well.

In any event, Blawg Review will continue its commitment to law student bloggers, as hosts and contributors, and we'd encourage other law students to get involved by contributing the posts they'd like to see reviewed there.
