Amazing Race Jerky Brothers
Are Russians the most miserable people on the earth? Somehow I doubt that they are. But leave it to the Jerky Brothers, Marshall and Lance from Dallas, TX, to take one look at St. Petersburg and declare Russians both miserable and "angry-looking." The brothers' brilliant theory: The cold makes people unhappy in Russia. My theory: The pollution and heat in Texas makes the Jerky Brothers stupid.
I believe it was someone on L-Cubed who I first saw commenting about what an awful image of Americans the Jerky Boys represent, but I can't find the post right now. Not to worry. I see Professor Yin has already commented on last night's episode and had the same impression. This show will be better when these guys go.

Actually, I was reading an article about general levels of happiness and overall personal satisfaction, and Russians are at the bottom of heap. The author concluded it had something to do with their worldview. I forget the exact reasoning, but, according to at least one scholar, they really *are* that unhappy.
(My fiancee is Russian, though, and I don't see it.)

Alas, 'twas also me at L-3 during my guest-blogging stint who made reference to the annoying brothers' stupid comment about unhelpful foreigners -- when they themselves were the foreigners!

I don't know. I hated that "foreigner" comment as well. But the group that really irks me is the holier-than-thou couple who preach their faith and how to be good, but then turn around and do the exact opposite.

I agree with Falconred and Sententia -- Brandon & Nicole -- the "Christian models" -- and Mirna are all quite annoying.

Team Piehole is my least favorite team this year, and have been from the very beginning. They are the epitome of ugly foreigner, although if I had to see one more person say "choo choo" to a Russian guy this last episode, I thought my head would explode.
If you were going on the Race, wouldn't you try to learn important words like 'train' and 'bus' and 'international airport' in a few languages? You'd think people would be smart enough to anticipate it.

As an avid fan of the Amazing Race, I didn't even realize that the brothers were from Texas. Please don't assume that all Texans stupid and intolerant. I'd like to think that I don't fit that description.
