Eerie Sports Analogies
Congrats to the Red Sox. Since I know nothing about baseball and pay zero attention to it normally, I am shocked to learn that Boston might face Houston in the World Series. Another way to put that: Massachusetts might face Texas in the Series. Is it just me or would that be an incredibly eerie coincidence? And the Series starts Saturday. Which will be over first: The World Series or the presidential election? Oh, and do you really want a president who feels threatened by people asking him silently to protect civil liberties? Or how about a president who suppresses CIA reports he doesn't like? Houston, I think we have a problem. Is Bush a pirate or an emperor? Don't worry too much - the best team in baseball is going to face the Red Sox, which is the St. Louis Cardinals! Go Cards!

According to my friend Seth, if it goes to 7 games, the last one is played on Halloween. It was her birthday last nite and she is a RABID Sox fan. She's moving back to Boston next month, so I told her they HAD to win in order to make her feel better about moving back. ha. I don't follow baseball either, but have friends like Seth that keep me informed.

Congratulations, Mr. Richey! (and all other Cards fans, too.) If not for the appeal of the wierd coincidence that would have resulted if the Astros had won, I'd generally prefer the Cards, too. So I'm glad they won, I just wanted the synchronicity!

By Jove, I think you've got it! The symbolism there is no longer eerie, just plain excellent! The Astros from Texas just got a one-way ticket back to the Lone-Star State, and the cowboys from Texas who are currently in Washington are about to get the same (in just over a week). Sounds great to me!
