I Have No Use for Adobe Acrobat
Rant occasioned by checking out the MPRE, which I still must take:
You know what? I'm tired of websites telling me I need Adobe Acrobat to view pdf files. It's not true. I use a Mac, which means I have the speedy and feature-rich Preview, plus if you have the Schubert|it PDF Browser Plugin, you can just view pdf files right in Safari—and w/zero wait time, unlike the laborious process of loading Acrobat on a Windows machine. So while I have Acrobat on my machine, I never ever ever use it. So hey people, stop w/the Adobe Acrobat pimping, will you? Acrobat is slow and clunky as far as I'm concerned, so I don't want to hear anything more about it. Thanks. ;-)

I do get annoyed with Tiger though, because now that it loads right in safari and not preview, I find it slightly more frustrating to change pages or zoom in and out. Half the time I just have it open in preview.

Yeah, if I'm serious about viewing a PDF I generally open it in Preview, too, but that's just one quick click from when it opens in the browser and it opens right up in a flash. What I really can't stand is that interminable delay on Windows machines while they stop to load Acrobat. Ugh.
Unfortunately the only Windows machines I use these days are ancient and slow b/c I only work on them at places like public defenders offices and law clinics which have no cash for new technology. That only makes the Acrobat delay 10 times worse....

Plus, if you're viewing a .pdf on a Windows machine, the obviously superior choice is the elegant Foxit PDF Reader. So there's really no reason to use Acrobat at all. Unless, of course, you need to edit the file, in which case you are out of luck.
